Scrutiny

Garda Síochána (Recording Devices) (Amendment) Bill

In examing the general scheme of the Bill, the Committee recommends further examination of concerns relating to biometric identification technology and human and fundamental rights, as well as concerns about the accuracy of this technology and the potential for racial bias.

Engagements on policing matters

The Committee supports a stated commitment to maintain high-visibility policing in Dublin city centre and emphasises the need to increase the recruitment of gardaí. In particular, the Committee indicates the need to increase the number of gardaí policing in Dublin city centre and the number of community Gardaí.
